Grant J. Mohr

Grant J. Mohr, 85, of Moorhead, MN, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.

Grant Mohr was born to George and Lillie (Altes) Mohr in Steele ND, on May 27, 1933. The family settled in Moorhead where he graduated from Moorhead High School in 1953. After graduation he joined the U. S. Army in 1953 (Army's Navy). He served at Fort Chaffee, AR, and then at Fort Eustis, VA, where he was a Diesel Engineer and Gun Tub Operator on a 65' UA Control boat. After getting out of the service, Grant worked a variety of jobs.

Grant met Shirley Dawson in 1956 and they were married on August 30, 1957, in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead. They established their home in Moorhead and he worked at Cass Clay Creamery for 36 years, 6 months and 20 days, where he was an award winning butter maker.

Grant was very active at Grace United Methodist Church as an usher, working with the youth, and in his later years he was chief doughnut bagger, but most of all, worshiping.
Grant spent every available weekend and vacation at Round Lake near Ponsford, MN, sharing happy times and memories with family and friends.

Grant was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darryl, Adelbert, Elden, and Glenn; and sisters, Marc and Betty.

Grant is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Ken (Mary), Joe (DeAnne), Susan (Doug)
Kreps, and Lisa (Bill) Hedman; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Cathy) Mohr; sisters-in-law, Muriel Mohr and Gladys (Demi) Black; brothers-in-law, Louis LaMoore, Curtis Dawson and Gary (Sharon) Dawson; along with many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Grant will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 2 PM in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
