Gregg H. Bale, 82, Fargo, ND, died Friday, April 19, 2013, in Sanford Hospital, Fargo.

Gregg Hamilton Bale, the son of Agnes and Kirk Bale Sr., was born in Wahpeton, ND, on November 9, 1930. He grew up and received his education in Wahpeton and in Velva, ND. In 1950, Gregg entered the US Army. He served overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953.
After his service, Gregg attended Wahpeton State School of Science and Moorhead (MN) State University. On August 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joanne Knackendoffel, at Fergus Falls, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, and later lived in several North Dakota communities including Minnewaukan.
In 1970, they moved to Jamestown, ND. Gregg was employed by the North Dakota State Department of Human Services as a social worker. He retired in 1995. For many years, Gregg served as a medic in the North Dakota Air National Guard, in Fargo. In 1998, Gregg and Joanne moved from Jamestown to Fargo, where they had lived since.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Joanne, Fargo; daughters, Barbara Bale, West Fargo, ND, and Lynn Bale, Fargo; a son, Gregg (LaVon) Bale Jr., Battle Creek, MI; a brother, Robert (Bea) Bale, Mandan, ND; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Amanda. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George Bale and Kirk Bale Jr.; and sisters, Betty Hall and Doratha Bale.
