H. Michael Loy

November 27, 1957 — July 5, 2008

Hubert Michael Loy, 50, Minot, ND, formerly Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, in a Minot hospital.
Michael was born November 27, 1957, at LaJolla, CA, the son of H. Merrill and Nancy (Eagle) Loy. He was raised and educated in Duluth, MN and Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Duluth East High School. He graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, in 1980, and received his Masters in Fine Arts from Trinity College, Dallas, TX. He had done post-graduate work at NDSU, Fargo, ND, and during that time was employed at the Central Cass High School speech and theatre department.

Michael taught at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley, Menasha, WI; Midland Lutheran College, Freemont, NE; Metropolitan College, Omaha, NE; and most recently was a visiting assistant professor in the Theatre and Speech department at Minot State University. He spent many years in North Dakota and the upper Midwest as an adjudicator for high school competitions in speech, debate, student congress and theatre. Michael had also been involved in a number of community summer theatre programs including: Santa Fe, NM, Wichita, KS, Dallas, TX, Jamestown, ND, Valley City, ND, and Minot.

Michael is survived by his mother, Nancy Loy, Moorhead; father, H. Merrill (Lynn) Loy, Carlton, MN; brother: Jon (Melanie) Loy, Worthington, MN; nephews, Phillip (Maari) Loy and Eric Loy; niece, Heather Loy; and an uncle, William Eagle.

Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
