Harlan E. Swenson, 80, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, in ManorCare Health Services, Fargo, ND.
Harlan Eugene Swenson was born February 2, 1932, to Clarence and Anna (Woitzel) Swenson, at his grandparents' home in rural Gardner, ND. He graduated from Hendrum High School in 1949 and farmed with his family. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 with the 817th EAB in England. After his discharge from the Army he resumed life farming.
On January 29, 1977, Harlan was married to Sharon Stennes in Moorhead and they lived and farmed in the Gardner area. Harlan retired in 1998 and they lived in Moorhead.
He was active on the Noble Township Board, the Nora Lutheran Church Council, the Sons of Norway, Fargo, and a lifetime member of the Moorhead VFW. He was also a leader in the Red River Livestock 4 H Club.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Sharon, Moorhead; children, Darcie Stennes, Edina, MN, and Lane Stennes, Waukesha, WI; a sister, Delores (Manfred) Carlson, Milaca, MN; a brother, Gerald (Dorothy) Swenson, Gardner, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 4 - 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Friday, December 28, 2012, at 10:30 AM, in Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner.
Burial: Nora Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gardner.
