Harold Deane Wilson, 79, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, October 25, 2009, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Harold Deane Wilson was born March 31, 1930, in Hubbard County, MN, to Harold and Ruth (Morton) Wilson. He attended Park Rapids Public Schools and graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1948.
On December 30, 1950, Harold married Joyce Bradley in Park Rapids where they made their home. Harold spent twenty five years in the Minnesota National Guard with twenty one months of this time spent on active duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama. He served in various units of the 47th Division of the National Guard and achieved the rank of Major. He then transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve where he spent another four years on inactive duty, retiring from the Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Harold worked for MN Power eventually moving in 1979 to Little Falls, MN. He retired from MN Power in 1985, returned to Park Rapids and in 1997, they moved to Moorhead.
Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing golf, helping his friends and neighbors, and being with his grandchildren. He was a past member of the Park Rapids Lions Club, and the Hubbard County Coalition of Lakes Assoc. He was also a past member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212 in Park Rapids, and a present member of the Moorhead American Legion Post 21.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three children, Catherine (Phil) Williams, Bradley (Julie) Wilson and Kenneth Wilson; one sibling, Duane Wilson; one sister-in-law, Marilyn; and three grandchildren, Shannon Williams, Megan Williams, and Adam Wilson. He
Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Roger Maris Cancer Center, or Calvary Church at Village Green.
Visitation: Thursday from 6 - 8 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
A private Funeral will be held for Mr. Wilson.
Burial with Military Honors: Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 12:30 PM in the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
