Harold J. Hanson, 84, Moorhead, MN (formerly Sabin, MN) died peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, March 5, 2004 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Harold was born September 14, 1919, to John and Josephine (Hendrickson) Hanson, in Cooperstown, ND. He moved with his family to Fargo, ND where he graduated from Fargo Central High School and went on to attend business college.
During WW II, Harold served our country as a sergeant in the Army Air Force in the Panama Canal. While on leave from duty in the Panama Canal, he married Florence Kuehl on October 7, 1944 in Sabin, MN. After his military discharge, they returned to Sabin, MN and Harold began his career working for Knight Printing Company in Fargo. Harold's talents as a bookbinder mystified everyone. He could sew the tattered and torn signatures of books that were dropped off in his care by sentimental customers, giving the books new life and meaning. After many years of dedication, Harold retired in 1990.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Hanson, brother Roy, and sister Doris.
Harold is survived by his wife Florence; two sons, Terry (Susan) Naperville, IL, and Chris (Lee Anne) Moorhead, MN; one daughter Mary Beth, Bloomington, MN; two granddaughters; Kirsten, San Diego, CA, and Laura, Moorhead, MN; four grandsons; Kevin, Seattle, WA, Ryan, Chicago, IL, Bo, Naperville, IL, and Nick, Moorhead, MN; one sister, Mae Elaine (Vernon) Cullen; and one brother, Gordon (Betty) both of Fargo, ND and nieces and nephews.
