Harold O. Haugen, 79, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, in his home after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was receiving care from his beloved family and the Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Harold Oscar Haugen was born October 11, 1928, in Wahpeton, ND. He was raised and received his education in Wyndmere, ND. In March of 1951, Harold was drafted into the US Army where he received the Bronze Star for his meritorious service during the Korean Conflict. On June 30, 1951, he married Verona D. Nelson, and upon his discharge from the Army in 1952, they made their home in Moorhead.
Harold worked for a short time for Dan Duggan Transport. He spent most of his career at Bristol Distributing in Fargo before retiring from West Tech as district sales manager.
In his retirement, Harold and Verona enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. He enjoyed restoring his F-30 tractor and working with his hands. He could build, solve or fix anything.
Harold is survived by his wife, Verona, Moorhead; three children, Douglas (Doris) Haugen, Lake in the Hills, IL, Debra (Joeseph) Malone, LaVeta, CO, and Darin (Jacquelyne) Haugen, Moorhead; three siblings, Irving (Arlene) Haugen, Wyndmere, Loris (Bob) Kyl
Visitation: Friday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 11 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
