Harriet Minerva Heng was born March 18, 1920. She was raised and worked in the Downer, MN, area.
Harriet was united in marriage to John H. Schmidt, on December 10, 1938, in Sabin, MN. They had a wonderful marriage of fifty-five years, before John passed away on May 10, 1993.
Her love of people and ease of conversation served her well as a longtime employee of Hornbacher Foods, and other food distribution companies. Her favorite times were parties, dancing, playing cards, and being with her children and grandchildren.
Harriet died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, at ninety-two years of age.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Karen) Schmidt, Mound, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Denise) Schmidt, Tampa, FL, and Kristi (Paul) Borchert, Chanhassen, MN; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Marlys) Heng, and Russell (Henrietta) Heng, both Barnesville, MN; sister, Bernice (Leo) Ernst, Moorhead; sister-in-law, Lavonne Heng, Barnesville; and many extended family members.
In addition to her husband, John, Harriet was preceded in death by two infant sons; parents, John and Mathilda Heng; and brothers, Raymond and Lloyd Heng.
The funeral will be Sunday, September 2, 2012, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.
Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Downer.
Memorials are preferred to the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
