Harris J. Grafsgaard, 86, Moorhead, MN, died December 5, 2007.
Harris Grafsgaard was born August 22, 1921, in McHenry, ND, the son of Henry and Bertha Grafsgaard. He attended McHenry High School and Jamestown College. Harris worked as a rural elementary school teacher in North Dakota before he served in the US Navy during World War II. Harris worked for Northwestern Bell for 32 years.
Harris married Lily Haugen on June 1, 1946, at Sigdal Lutheran Church near Tolna, ND. They lived in Fargo, ND, and Grand Forks, ND, before settling in Moorhead in 1951. Harris was married for 60 years to Lily, who died in June of 2006.
He is survived by five daughters and one son, Mary (Charles) Sorum, Pelican Rapids, MN, Beverly (Donald) Devoe, Strandburg, SD, Kathryn (Stephen Cowdery) Anoka, MN, Carol (Gary) Feir, Lake Park, MN, Lynne (Thomas) Joyce, West Fargo, ND, and James, Minneapolis, MN. One son, Timothy, died in 1990. There are sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Gladys (Duwayne) Hoyt, McHenry, ND, and Alice (Sherman) Stromsodt, Cooperstown, ND; and two brothers, Ernest (Birdine), Moorhead, and Burton (Jean), International Falls, MN.
Memorial service: Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 2 PM in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, at their new location, 4000 28th Street South, Moorhead.
