Harvey Burton Brekke was born March 2, 1919, in Fargo, ND, to Henry and Louise (Giese) Brekke. He graduated from Dilworth (MN) High School where he played football, and from the Wahpeton (ND) State School of Science.
On August 9, 1941, Harvey married Myrtle Hanson in Moorhead, MN. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942, serving until his discharge in 1945. He then returned to Moorhead. Harvey worked at Robert Gibb and Sons, Fargo, as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 1981.
Harvey died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, at the age of eighty-seven.
Harvey loved to hunt and fish. He would spend his summers on Franklin Lake where he caught his prize Northern. Harvey was also famous in the neighborhood for his large garden.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Myrtle, Moorhead; two daughters, Sharon (Barry) Bach and Carole Kvidt, both of Fargo; five grandchildren, Sheila (Rob) Jacobson, Stacy (Nate) Chesley, Jeremy (Kristen) Kvidt, Sara Kvidt, and Brian (Jessica) Bach; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Friemanslund.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The memorial service will be on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 11 AM, in the First Presbyterian Church of Moorhead.
Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
