Harvey Erickson, 88, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, March 8, 2013, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Harvey Gordon Erickson, the son of Henry and Marie (Halmrast) Erickson, was born in Moorhead on November 22, 1924. He grew up and received his education in the DeLamere, ND, area.
On February 12, 1953, Harvey married Ila Brown. They first lived near DeLamere, and then moved to Montana. In about 1957, they returned to Moorhead, where they had lived since. Harvey worked as a janitor for his uncle, Cliff Halmrast, in his janitorial service business. In 1985, he became an employee of NDSU, Fargo, ND, as a dorm janitor. He retired in 2000, and the couple continued to live in Moorhead.
Harvey was an avid wood carver and was an active member of the Red River Valley Wood Carvers Club.
In February of 2013, Harvey became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, following a hospitalization.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Ila, of Moorhead; a brother, Raymond (Lavina) Erickson, of Minneapolis, MN; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Eileen, Helen, Jordyce, and Carol; and a brother, Myron.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral, at the church.
Funeral: Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 11 AM in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 610 13th Street North, Moorhead.
