Harvey V. Jensen, 83, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, August 27, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Harvey Virgil Jensen was born November 15, 1922, to Lars Peter and Louise Victoria (Eppler) Jensen, near Hitterdal, MN. Harvey was raised on the family farm between Glyndon and Hawley, MN. He graduated from high school in Glyndon in 1941 and attended Moorhead State College for two years.
Harvey entered the US Army March 5, 1943, and served in Europe, including northern France, during WW II. He was discharged April 5, 1946, and returned to Fargo, where he owned and operated a café for five years. Harvey was married to Norma Hellem, November 9, 1957, in Ulen. They made their home in Moorhead where he drove truck for Holsum Bread. He then began work for Super Valu as a produce buyer. He purchased for eighty-five stores for thirty years and retired in 1985.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Norma, Moorhead; two sons, Ron (Deb), Moorhead, and Gary (Denise), Marion, ND; six grandchildren; five brothers, Clifford (Adeline), Colorado Springs, CO, Vernon (Joan), and Darrel (Jean), both Moorhead, Harlan (Gladys), Audubon, MN, and Dennis (Arlene), Fargo; and two sisters, Lois Jensen, Glyndon, and Loris (LeRoy) Sandahl, Vining, MN. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by a brother, Lester, in WW II.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 30, 2006; 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Thursday, August 31, 2006, at 11 AM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: West Ulen Cemetery, Ulen, MN, at 2:30 PM
