Hazel V. Slininger

February 9, 1920 — November 20, 2004

Hazel V. Slininger, 84, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Dilworth, MN, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.


Hazel Viola Hanson, daughter of John and Olga (Wasfaret) Hanson, was born on February 9, 1920, near Ulen, MN.


On June 26, 1940, Hazel married Clyde F. Slininger in Twin Valley, MN, and they made their home near Twin Valley. They later lived in Baker, MT, and Bozeman, MT, before they moved to Moorhead in 1966 and Dilworth in 1971. Hazel worked with Clyde in construction for several years. He died September 10, 2004.


Hazel was an active member of Dilworth Lutheran Church, the Mary Circle, and a volunteer at Eventide. Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very caring person and made all feel welcome. She had a hug for everyone and always had the coffee on. She was an excellent listener for young and old and was loved by all who knew her.


Hazel is survived by a son, Clifford (Judy) Slininger, Worthington, MN; a daughter, Kathryn (Thomas) Restemayer, Fargo; a daughter-in-law, Janet Slininger, Barnesville, MN; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Clyde, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith; a daughter, Paulette; three brothers, Gordon, Ordel, and Virgil Hanson; two sisters, Olive Hanson and Myrtle Dokken.


Visitation: Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, from 6 PM to 8 PM
with a prayer service at 7 PM

Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, 1:30 PM,
Dilworth Lutheran Church


Inurnment: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
