Hedvig A. Thompsen, 84, Fargo, ND, formerly of Bemidji, MN, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Hedvig Amelia Anderson was born June 21, 1922, in Petersburg, ND, to Thomas and Anna (Bergee) Anderson. She grew up in Perley, MN, and graduated from Borup (MN) High School. Hedvig then attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, graduating in 1944.
On October 11, 1944, Hedvig married T. Gilbert Thompsen in Perley. She taught school for two years until Gil was discharged from the Navy. They then made their home in Parshall, ND, where Gil was a Lutheran pastor. Hedvig and Gil lived in various communities in the area including Lake Park, MN, Elbow Lake, MN, Thornton, CO, and Halstad, MN, while Gil served as pastor. He retired in 1979 and they made their home in Bemidji.
Gil died on March 4, 1999 and Hedvig continued to make her home in Bemidji until December of 2005 when she moved to Fargo.
Hedvig assisted her husband in the ministry, served as a church musician and taught piano lessons. She was a dedicated quilter for church missions.
She is survived by a daughter, Naomi (Stan) Franek, Fargo; four sons, Loren (Jan) Thompsen, Green Valley, AZ, Paul (Peggy) Thompsen, Tucson, AZ, Harold (Judy) Thompsen, Fargo, and Philip (Mary) Thompsen, Moorhead; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandch
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Edgar Anderson.
Memorials may be given to Lutheran World Relief or the donor's home congregation.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 - 7 PM,

Funeral Service: Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 2 PM.
St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Fargo with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Bemidji, on Friday at 1 PM.
