Helen C. Krabbenhoft, 95, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Eventide on Eighth, Moohead under the care of Hospice of Red River Valley.
Helen Caroline Leiseth was born on January 10, 1925, to Olaus and Hilda (Olson) Leiseth on the family farm near Rustad, MN. Helen was the third of six children. Helen frequently shared stories of farm chores, such as milking the cows and feeding the pigs. Despite being hard-working, Helen also liked to have fun. She and her sisters found entertainment amongst their chores, riding the cows and climbing the grain bin.
As a young adult, Helen worked at the Bluebird Café and Waterman's Clothing Store.
Helen was united in marriage to Kenneth Krabbenhoft, on May 4, 1949, in Moorhead. Helen and Kenneth made their home in Sabin, MN, where they had two children, Debra and Kurt. Helen was a farm wife. She ensured Kenneth and the farm employees were fed three full meals every day, maintained a tidy home, and helped out where needed. Helen and Kenneth would often go out dancing and enjoy dinners with their loved ones. They also enjoyed spending time at the family lake.
Helen and Kenneth were active members at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin for many years. Helen lived her Christian faith and volunteered doing hair at the Eventide beauty shop for many years, with her sister Lillian. She was an outstanding cook, and made an especially exceptional lingonberry dessert, which she always prepared for family during Christmas. Helen had an immense love for her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Helen enjoyed playing rummy with her grandchildren as they grew up. In her final years, Helen felt blessed to be at Eventide with her sister Louise, and the two found comfort in being together while visitors were restricted during the pandemic.
Helen is survived by her children, Debra (Reinhold) Fleck, Moorhead, and Kurt Krabbenhoft, Sabin; grandchildren, Justin Fleck, Lindsay (Adam) Kolling, and Whitney Krabbenhoft; sisters, Lillian Aldrich and Louise Schmidt, and; brother, Einar (Rita) Leiseth; and sisters-in-law, Betty Krabbenhoft and Mary Leiseth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Olaus and Hilda; and brothers Ole and Alfred.
A visitation for Helen will take place an hour before her service. Helen's funeral service will be held October 10, 2020, at 2 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Due to CDC and Minnesota state guidelines, masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced.
