Helen D. Wicklund

June 2, 1938 — April 7, 2006

Helen Darlene Metcalf was born June 2, 1938, in Pierre, SD, to Roy and Irene (Berg) Metcalf. She lived in Pukwana, SD, until 1945, when her family moved to Fargo, ND. She graduated from Fargo Central in 1955, and Interstate Business College in 1957. After graduation, Helen worked several years for Nodak Mutual, Fargo.

On June 7, 1958, Helen married David L. Wicklund in Fargo and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. They moved several times as David's job took them to Minot, ND, Bismarck, ND, and back to Fargo, where Helen lovingly raised their three children.

In 1988, Helen began working for Metropolitan Federal Bank (now US Bank), Fargo. Helen and Dave moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, in 1987, and she continued to work at the bank until her retirement in 1995.

Helen died peacefully, with family by her side, on Friday, April 7, 2006, at her home on Pelican Lake. She was 67 years old.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends and her two faithful dogs, Rusty and Beau, but her greatest joys were her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; three children, Susan (Jeff) Zeltinger and Gregg (Derel) Wicklund, both of Fargo, and Kathy (Jim) Eggmann, Kindred, ND; six grandchildren, Michael, Chad, Katie, Austin, Lyndie, and Nicholas; and a brother, Ron Metcalf
The family wishes to thank all of their friends, neighbors, the Roger Maris Cancer Center, and Hospice for their care and support during Helen's illness.
