Helen Delaine Petry

H. Delaine Petry, age 94, passed away at New Perspective Senior Center in West Fargo, ND, on June 14, 2022, where she had been living since September of 2019.
Delaine was born to Clarence R. Berg and Emma (Kroshus) Berg. She attended school and was a graduate of Hendrum High in 1945.
Delaine married Sherman Magnuson in 1956, and they lived in Fargo, ND. Sadly, Sherman passed away in 1962. She married Vernon Petry on June 16, 1965. She and Vern made their home in Fargo, where Delaine continued to live after Vern's death in 2002. Although Delaine never had children, she considered the many kitties she raised her children. She loved each and every one of them dearly and doted on them constantly.
She was an employee at the Fargo Clinic in the eye department for 20 years. In May of 1987 she received an award from the “Hearts and Hands” Employee Recognition program for her commitment to excellence to their customers and other Meritcare Associates. Delaine loved to visit with her family and friends and always had treats like Krumkake and Kringle on hand for visitors.
Delaine is survived by her nephews, Bill Berg (Kathy Woodbury) of Halstad, MN, and Bob Berg (Mary Roue) of Devils Lake, ND; niece Kathy Berg of South Twin Lake, MN; great nieces, Jennifer (Mitchell) Williams and Teresa (Scott) Ringgenberg; great nephew, Daniel Berg (Jeni VonBank); great-great nephews, Tyler and Byron Williams, Odin and (soon to be born) Hunter Berg; great-great nieces, Brooke and Grace Ringgenberg. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Laurel Petry, Carol Petry; Laurels three children, Allen, Peggy, and Patty Petry; as well as several other family members, special friends and neighbors, many of whom she treated like family.
Delaine was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Clayton Berg; sisters-in-law, Helen Berg, Elaine Thorsteinson, Ethel Petry and Mernice Petry; and brothers-in-law, Alvin Petry, Donald Petry, Leroy "Guy" Petry, Luverne Petry, and Orville Thorsteinson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN. A lunch will be served at the funeral home followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND.
