Helen Elizabeth Anderson was born May 29, 1919, in Starbuck, MN, to Henry and Mary (Jackson) Anderson. She graduated from Glenwood (MN) High School in 1938, and then St. Cloud Business School in 1942.
She moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1945 where she worked at American State Bank. Helen married Willard Kuehl, August 14, 1949, at Starbuck, and they made their home in Moorhead. Helen concentrated on raising her family between 1957 and 1964, returning to her banking career in 1964. Her career was with First National Bank, then Norwest, and then Wells Fargo. She retired in 1983. Willard preceded her in death on December 13, 1981.
Helen died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at eighty-eight years of age.
In Helen's twenty-five years of retirement, she was proud of her service to the community. She volunteered with the Moorhead Police Department and was recognized by the Moorhead City Council for 3000 hours of service in 1991, and 5000 hours in 2000. Helen had volunteered over 10,000 hours of service to her community.
Helen has also volunteered with the Moorhead Salvation Army, Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, R.S.V.P., and assisting her neighbors. She enjoyed getting out of the house to interact and help whenever she could. Helen will be missed by her family, friends, and the community.
Helen is survived by her four children, Craig Kuehl, Moorhead, Ward (Linda) Kuehl Moorhead, Jan Kuehl, Savage, MN, and Judy Kuehl, Fargo; and her sister, Edith Anderson, Minnetonka, MN.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Kuehl, and her brother Maurice Anderson.
Visitation for Helen will be Friday from 5 - 7 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 3 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
