Helen Frances Oliphant was born December 15, 1913, near Elliott, ND, to Arthur and Mattie (Silvey) Oliphant. Helen was raised in that area where she attended school.
Helen attended Valley City (ND) State Teacher's College and graduated from Moorhead (MN) State College. Helen taught from 1937 to 1979. Fifteen of those years were in North Dakota schools and twenty-seven years were for Moorhead Public Schools.
After Helen retired, she continued to make her home in Moorhead until she entered Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, where she died Thursday, September 8, 2005, at ninety-one years of age.
Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Helen will be Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 1:30 PM, in Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon, ND.
