Helen F. Wilder

Helen F. Wilder, 98, New Brighton, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, in Benedictine Health Center at Innsbruck, New Brighton.

Helen Frances Weber was born April 4, 1917, in Alexander, ND, to Frank and Armosa Weber. She was one of sixteen children. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Alexander, graduating from high school in 1936.

Working hard for the next five years and saving her money for tuition, she entered nurses training in 1942 at St. Michael's School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND. She graduated in 1945 as an RN and began working at a clinic in Grand Forks.

Helen married Joseph Wilder in 1946 and they lived in Grand Forks, where Joe worked for the Great Northern Railroad and she continued working at the clinic. Helen and Joe moved to Moorhead in 1949, where Joe continued to work for the railroad.

Helen was a stay at home mom until her children were in school and then she returned to work. She worked at St. Ansgar Hospital for a short time and then spent the next 10 years as a staff nurse at the Florence Crittendon Home in Fargo, ND. She finished her nursing career as a staff nurse for five years at Moorhead State College.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead and participated in Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, three brothers, and eight sisters. She is survived by two brothers, Don and Art Weber; two sisters, Ethyl Christianson and Dorothy Magnuson; one son, William (Karen) Wilder of Eden Prairie, MN; a daughter, Elizabeth (Thomas) Rieser of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 19, 2015, from 5PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM, all in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

The funeral mass will be Friday, November 20, 2015, at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
