Helen K. Motschenbacher

Helen Kathryn Pearson was born January 9, 1926, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Elmer and Minnie (Severson) Pearson. She was raised in Pelican Rapids where she graduated from high school in 1943.
She received a teaching certificate and taught in country schools in the Pelican Rapids area. Helen was united in marriage to John S. Motschenbacher on June 18, 1953, in Sabin, MN, and they lived and farmed in the Sabin area.
John died April 25, 1985, and Helen continued to make her home on the farm. She moved into Moorhead, MN, in 1989, and then to the Golden Living Center, Moorhead, in February of 2009. Helen died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at eighty-four years of age.
Helen came from a very musical family and she loved to dance. Later in life, she enjoyed bingo, playing cards, cooking and baking. She was an avid baseball fan and followed the Minnesota Twins and the FM Redhawks every season. Helen really enjoyed time with family however, and looked forward to the family get-togethers.
Helen is survived by her two sons, John Jr. (Char Aberle) Motschenbacher, Fargo, and Charles (Jackie Swanson) Motschenbacher, Moorhead; four daughters, Ginny (Douglas) Soland, Fargo, Nancy Motschenbacher, Kathy (Kurt Erickson) Motschenbacher, and Judy Horn, all of Moorhead; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Schultz, Fergus Falls, MN, and Becky (Don) Perkins, Boulder City, NV; and three sisters-in-law, Avis Pearson, Florence Motschenbacher and Sonja Pearson; and a daughter-in-law, Kay Motschenbacher.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Tom; her parents; three brothers, Merle, John and Robert; and two sisters, Margaret Prim and Ruth Paul.
Visitation for Helen will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 11 AM, in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sabin.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
