Helen M. Qualley died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 in Halstad (MN) Living Center, where she had been a resident since 2008. Helen will be remembered for her service as organist in Concordia Lutheran Church for more than 40 years, for her beautiful handwork, and for her love of flower gardening.
Helen Margaret Henrickson, daughter of Hans and Anna Margaret (Bendixen) Henrickson, was born May 2, 1910 in Ulen, MN, where she grew up and received her education. She also attended normal school in Ada, MN, and taught in the Ada area.
In 1935, Helen married Victor Qualley. They lived and farmed in the Hendrum-Perley, MN, area. In 1949, they moved to the Qualley home farm. Victor died in 1974. After his death, Helen continued to live on the farm until 1997, when she moved to Fargo, ND, for a year. She moved to Halstad, where she had lived since.
Helen is survived by her son, Verne (Marilyn) Qualley, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Margaret (Kenneth) Peterson, Fountain Hills, AZ; grandchildren, Trudy Peterson, Michael (Beth) Qualley, Tammy (Mike) Iverson, Thomas Qualley, Tracy (Leon) Sadlo, Steven Qualley, and Shari Qualley; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Thompson, Jacklyn Iverson, Nora Qualley, Travis Qualley, and Kieran Qualley; and great-great-grandson, Michael Thompson Jr. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; a son, David, who died in 1984; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5 PM until 7 PM, in Halstad Living Center, Halstad. Funeral: Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 2 PM Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN. Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Hendrum.
