Helen M. Regedal, 91, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Helen Margaret Olson was born December 29, 1917, to Joe and Caroline (Didrikson) Olson in Beltrami, MN. She attended school there, graduating with the class of 1935. She received a degree in elementary education from Moorhead State College and taught for over 30 years in Wadena, Oklee, Beltrami, and Fertile, MN, and Grand Forks, ND. She loved teaching and was honored to be a Polk County Teacher of the Year.
On January 19, 1962, Helen was married to Frank Regedal in Moorhead, MN. They had many happy years together, camping, fishing, and traveling. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. The family cherished the memory of gathering at Frank and Helen's home for good food and good fun. Helen was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Beltrami. She served on the board, was active in circle, serving group, and taught Sunday school many years. After Frank died on March 30, 2003, Helen moved to Bethany Kinder House Apartments in Fargo. Helen became ill and moved to Bethany Homes in September 2008.
Helen is survived by one sister, Catherine Dokken, Moorhead; sister-in-law, Lottie Olson, Port Washington, WI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Richard and Lori Regedal, Rochester, MN; several cousins; and a number of nieces and nephews including Julie Dokken, Fargo, Craig Dokken, Moorhead, MN, and Dr. Douglas Dokken, St. Paul, MN. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Helen's family is grateful for the excellent care given her by the staff of Bethany Homes and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
