August 22, 1927 — October 17, 2017

Helen Mae Schott, 90, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.

Helen was born August 22, 1927, to Jay and Lillian (Kapinus) Edgar in Marquette, IA. She graduated nursing school in Dubuque, IA, and worked there at Mercy Hospital and later at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND. She was united in marriage to Warren Raymond Schott on May 20, 1950, in McGregor. They lived in several places in Iowa until relocating to Moorhead in 1961.

One of Helen's hobbies was tracing her family history. She and her husband enjoyed traveling across the United States, combining vacations with researching her family roots. Their travels also took them to Scotland, her ancestral home, as well as to other countries tracing family roots.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, her parents, and sister, Shirley.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Schott, Omaha, NE; two sons, Steven (Kathleen) Schott, Rosemount, MN, and Lee Schott of Moorhead; four grandchildren, Paul (Sara) Schott, Eagan, MN, Christopher (Heather) Schott, Pflugerville, TX, Mark Schott, Minneapolis, MN, and Laura (David) Enestvedt, Apple Valley, MN; four great-grandchildren, Madeline, Charlotte, Luca and Emma; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Helen's caregivers at Eventide on Eighth and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
