Helen Marie Berg

Helen M. Berg, 88, Halstad, MN, formerly of Hendrum, MN, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, in Halstad Living Center.

Helen was born in St. Cloud, MN, to Frank and Alice (Landro) Scherfenberg. She attended school and graduated from Hendrum High School in 1948.

On June 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edmund Clayton Berg and they raised two boys, Bill and Bob, on a farm near Hendrum. Clayton passed away last summer shortly after their 70th wedding anniversary.

Along with being a busy mother and farm wife, Helen was very active in 4-H from her youth all the way through her adult life. She was an active member of Homemakers, Red Hats and Ladies Aid. Helen was also involved in numerous community activities. For years she was a large distributor and supervisor for Shaklee products. She was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum.

Helen loved spending time and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and reading, as well as working in her flower and vegetable garden.

Helen moved to the Halstad Living Center in August of 2015.

Helen is survived by her two children, Bill (Kathy Woodbury) of Halstad and Bob (Mary Roue ) of Hendrum; granddaughters, Jennifer (Mitch) Williams, Teresa (Scott) Ringgenberg; grandson, Daniel; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Byron Williams, and Brooke and Grace Ringgenberg; her sisters, Margeret (Stuart) Ystebo, Janet (Elroy) Steinwand and Charlotte (Earl) Peterson; a sister-in-law, Delaine Petry; and the daughter Helen never had, her niece, Maureen Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clayton Berg.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM, Friday, April 26, 2019, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour prior to the service. Funeral service for Helen will be at 11 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2019, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hendrum.
