Helen Hennebry, 88, Moorhead, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.
Helen May Knox was born on March 18, 1925, to Freeman Knox and Marie Wagner, in Fargo, ND. Helen attended school in Argusville, ND, and married Floyd Hennebry on December 24, 1942, in Moorhead. Helen was an avid cook and baker, always making meals or treats for her family. Even during crisis situations, Helen would brave the worst conditions to make sure those in need were properly fed. She was almost always in the kitchen, either feeding her family or writing letters to her many friends. Helen was also a housekeeper for many other families, most of whom employed her for years.
Helen and Floyd bowled in a league for several decades and also cheered for the Bruins and Bison. Helen was an extremely kind and compassionate woman who made sure to plant a tree in memory of friends and family members of hers that died. The backyard of her home is full of trees, of all shapes and sizes, planted in a haphazard, if not creative, way. Prior to becoming a resident of Eventide, she was a longtime resident of Fargo.
Helen is survived by her children, Cliff (Gloria) Hennebry, Elaine (Gary) Charlson, and Deborah (Mike) Flohrs; grandchildren, Kim (Ben) Cohen, Mike (D.) Hennebry, Lori Cantrell, Dana (Dean) Stockert, and Brian (Danielle) Charlson; stepgrandchildren, Chris, Rob, John, and Mike; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 2002; son, Roger Hennebry; grandson, Jon Hennebry; and siblings, Harriet Huse, Virginia Mozinski, and Linus "Bill" Knox.
