Helen Steen, 94, passed away peacefully with family at her side, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, on Saturday, November 24, 2012.
Helen Bertha Rehder was born August 23, 1918, to Frank and Dora (Schmidt) Rehder in Sabin, MN. She married Bernard "Toby" Steen on November 18, 1935, in Glyndon, MN. Together they had four children, and farmed in the Glyndon area until 1975, when they moved to Moorhead. Toby passed away September 17, 1990. Helen was proud to be able to live in their home until the time of her passing.
Helen loved to cook for her family, play cards, crochet, and keep everyone on their toes with her humor and quick wit. She especially enjoyed the arrivals of all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was not only a wonderful mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and sister, but a true friend to us all. We will miss her dearly.
Helen is survived by her four children: Wayne Steen, Dilworth, MN, Shirley (Marc) Nokken, Moorhead, Audrey Frey, Moorhead, and Kevin Steen, Moorhead; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Francie Bennett, Jordan, MN.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan; and ten brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 10 - 11 AM, followed by the funeral at 11 AM, in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon.
