Henry E. Sorensen, age 94, of Dilworth, MN, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, with his family by his side.
Henry Sorensen was born on February 23, 1913, in Wagner, SD, to Marinus and Louise (Erickson) Sorensen. His family moved to Gary, MN, and farmed in the area. Henry served his country in the Army during WWII.
On Nov. 20, 1944, he married Junice Merkens from Lockhart, MN. They farmed near Lockhart for 27 years and then moved to Dilworth in 1971. He worked in construction for 5 years and retired in 1976.
Henry was a member of Dilworth Lutheran Church. He enjoyed Senior Citizens and volunteering.
He is survived by three children, Carolyn Orvik, Dilworth, Marlys (Vernon) Knight, Moorhead, MN, and Ronald (Kathy) Sorensen, Brandon, SD; grandchildren, Christy (Mark) Lofgren, Darin Orvik, and Jeff Knight; great-grandchild, Carson Lofgren; stepgrandchildren, Donovan (Marjorie) Knight and Merlin (Dina) Knight; several great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Alice Merkens, Ada, MN; and a brother, Vernon (Joyce) Sorensen, Kirkland, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Junice, who died in 1998; his parents; one brother, Elmer; and two sisters, Edith Gullingsrud and Rose Nissen.
Visitation: Friday, 5 PM until 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead
