Henry F. Nickel, 66, Bismarck, ND, died peacefully Thursday, March 17, 2022, at his residence in Bismarck.
Henry Franklin Nickel was born October 13, 1955, in Fargo, ND, to Henry and Jean (Evans) Nickel. He grew up in Fargo attending Washington Elementary, Ben Franklin Jr. High and graduated from Fargo North High School in 1974. While in school, Henry participated in hockey, wrestling and Boy Scouts. Following high school, Henry furthered his education at Moorhead Technical College, earning a degree in Home Construction.
During his carpentry career, Henry was employed at Curtis Construction in Fargo, Genereux in Monticello, MN, self-employed carpenter while living in Taylor, ND, and was currently with Bismarck Kitchens in Bismarck, ND, doing customized cabinetry and counter tops.
During his spare time, Henry loved to go fishing. He enjoyed model trains, garage sales, antique shopping but his favorite was spending time with his family and friends. Memories he spoke fondly of, were making deep dish pizza with his friends at their annual pizza party, the annual Thanksgiving cookie bake-off, and shopping for the perfect “gag” gift for various family members. Over the years he helped many friends and family with woodworking projects and created numerous family heirlooms. Henry loved visiting his daughter and spending time with her. He was especially proud of his grandsons and cherished every opportunity he had to watch them play baseball and hockey.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Darrin) Kamon; two grandsons, Luke Kamon and Broc Kamon; sisters, Janice (Albert) Kaeding, Peggy (Vernon) Spitzer and Lori (Brian) Olek; along with 16 nieces and nephews; and 18 great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service for Henry will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
