Henry J. Fahrlander

Henry Joe Fahrlander was born June 15, 1918, to Francis and Mary (Zimmerman) Fahrlander in Borup, MN. He received his education in the Borup-Felton school system. After school, Henry worked as a farmhand for area farmers.
On October 16, 1939, Henry married Anna Menholt in Sisseton, SD, and they made their home in Ada, MN, and then Bagley, MN. They eventually moved to Billings, MT, where Henry worked as a mechanic for Northwest Airlines. In 1945, they moved to Moorhead and Henry worked as a mechanic for various businesses including Strom Construction, Moen Brothers, Krider Equipment, and Sornsin Construction. Henry retired in 1980, and they moved to Georgetown, MN, where they built a home. In 1991, they moved back to Moorhead.
Anna died on April 6, 1993, and Henry continued to make his home in Moorhead. In September of 2003, Henry became a resident of Heritage Villa, Moorhead. Henry died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Moorhead Healthcare Center, at the age of eighty-six.
Henry loved to use his computer, travel and he would fondly recall the fishing trip he took with friends to Alaska. His whole life was being a mechanic and he enjoyed looking at heavy-duty equipment and airplanes.
Henry is survived by four daughters, Marlis (Bill) Ziegler, Georgetown, Mavis Jones, Fargo, ND, Jane (Gene) Determan and Lois (Conrad) Krabbenhoft, both of Moorhead; a sister, Lucille Leno, West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, Carl (Lori) Ziegler, Moorhead, and their children, Erica and Brad, Andrea (Ture) Peterson, Williston, ND, and their children, Anna and Alison, Jennifer Morton, Moorhead, and her children, Kristi, Kylie, and Kari, Paul (Carole) Ziegler, Ft Leonardwood, MO, and their children, Victoria and Lukas, Wayne (Nekco) Oien, Fayetteville, NC, and their children, Nicholas, Amelia, and Audrey, Perry (Mardy) Eidem, Moorhead, and their children, Corey and Kelli, Jerry Eidem, Moorhead, and his children, Jeremy, Breanna, and Jamie, Elizabeth (Todd) Mitzel, Grand Forks, ND, and their children, Holly and Leann, Tom (Norma) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead, and their children, Tayler and Tia, and Troy Krabbenhoft, Moorhead; three sisters-in-law, Marlace Fahrlander, Fargo, Ethel Menholt, Felton, and Gayl Dahl, Gonvick, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Clarence "Pete", and Frank; and five sisters, Lorraine Rehder, Frances Coalwell, Helen Hannestad, Evelyn Lofgren, and Mary Ann Fahrlander.
A visitation for Henry took place on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead
The funeral service is today, June 3, 2005, at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
