Henry Leroy Vosseteig

H. Leroy Vosseteig, 85, Fargo, ND, formerly of Finley, ND, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in Villa Maria, Fargo.

Henry Leroy Vosseteig was born January 9, 1930, the son of Henry and Ruth (Gullicks) Vosseteig of Finley. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Finley. He graduated from Finley High School in 1947. He attended NDSU in Fargo, ND, for two years, and returned to Finley to farm.

On November 8, 1952, Leroy was united in marriage to Doreen Flaten, in Little Forks Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, ND. The couple made their home on the family farm. In 1968, they moved into Finley to live. Leroy retired from farming in 1993.

Leroy was a member of Finley Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities including president of the church council, trustee, deacon, treasurer, and as a respected Sunday school teacher. He served his community as a volunteer fireman, a member of the Finley Development Cooperative, as past president of the Commercial Club, on the cemetery board from 1996 to 2009, and on the board of directors of Citizens State Bank of Finley, until 2010.

On January 8, 1998, his wife, Doreen, died after 45 years of marriage. On April 3, 2002, Leroy married Shirley Jean Rasmussen. In 2006, they moved from Finley to Fargo, where they spent their summers, while they spent winters in Mesa, AZ.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Shirley, Fargo; a son, David (Deb) Vosseteig, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jenna Vosseteig, Fargo, Erik (Kimmy) Vosseteig, Fargo, and Sarah Vosseteig, West Fargo; stepchildren, Cynthia (Marv) Corsbie, Mesa, Wally (Doris) Rasmussen III, Wyoming, MI, Melinda (Tom) Albrecht, Bismarck, ND, and Dan Rasmussen, Carlsbad, CA; 8 stepgrandchildren, Walter John Rasmussen IV, Germany, Erin (Donovan) Enos, Phoenix, AZ, Eric Rasmussen, Cedar Falls, IA, Mandi (Jerry) Petkovsek, Gilbert, AZ, Breanna Ramey, Denham Springs, LA, Jakob Rasmussen, Denham Springs, Jared (Kari) Harvey, Fargo, and Brandon Harvey, Washington, DC; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren, Lucas and Natalie Arnds, Payton, Braydon and Bella Ramey, Leila & Bennette Enos, Nicholas Petkovsek, and Isaiah & Leona Rasmussen and Lucas Marks; a sister, Ione (Julian) Kiedrowski, Lake Ridge, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Doreen, Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gerald.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the finley Cemetery Fund.
