Hinton W. "Wally" Thorson, 94, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, surrounded by his loving family.
Hinton Wallace "Wally" Thorson was born August 6, 1915, in rural Hawley, MN, to Martin and Julia Thorson. He attended school in Hawley.
On June 6, 1936, he married Grace Carlson in Moorhead where they made their home until moving to Park Township, now Detroit Lakes. They eventually moved to Hawthorne, CA, where Wally worked for Douglas Aircraft as a machinist. In 1941, they moved to Dilworth, MN, where Wally worked for the Northern Pacific and Great Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1972.
Wally and Grace continued to make their home in Dilworth until 2003 when Wally became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home. Grace died on August 21, 2005 and Wally continued to live at Eventide.
Wally was appreciative of all he had, never complaining and always satisfied in good times and bad. His care free attitude and sense-of-humor won him many friends. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, whether sitting or walking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he loved to tease.
He is survived by five children, Bev (Leonard) Wagner, Moorhead, Carol (Rick) Larson, Hawley, Wally Jr. (Lonnie), Crookston, MN, Jerdeen (Jim) Hampton, Minneapolis, MN, and Pam (Steve) Wear, Dilworth; fourteen grandchildren; one foster grandchild; eleven
