Hosea Rose, 96, and Emma Rose, 90, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, as a result of injuries sustained from a fire in their home.
Hosea Curgis Rose was born July 21, 1908, in Bedford, PA, to Espy and Maud (Gillium) Rose. Hosea was raised on the family farm in Bedford County where he also received his education. In his younger years, Hosea worked as a farm laborer and carpenter. During the Depression, he moved to Nebraska where he farmed with a brother.
Hosea worked as a civilian contractor for the US Navy in Hawaii and other parts of the western Pacific. He was living there at the outbreak of WW II. Hosea joined the U.S. Navy Seabees and was stationed in England and Guam. Following his discharge, Hosea worked in construction in Idaho and then North Dakota.
Emma Marion Krenzel was born August 31, 1914, in Orrin, ND, to Ivo and Elizabeth (Schneider) Krenzel. She was raised in the Orrin area where she received her education. Emma moved to Fargo as a young woman and worked in retail at a number of area stores. She also worked in the cafeteria at St. Joseph's School, Moorhead.
Hosea and Emma were married June 10, 1952, in Williston, ND, and they lived in various towns in North Dakota and Minnesota where Hosea continued to work in construction. Hosea and Emma moved to Moorhead in 1959 and Hosea joined Olaf Anderson & Son Construction, Fargo, as a job site foreman. He retired in 1973. Hosea and Emma volunteered many years of service at Moorhead Healthcare Center during their years of retirement.
Hosea and Emma are survived by two sons, Dale C. (Carol) Rose, Lake Villa, IL, and Dean A. Rose, Omaha, NE. Emma is survived by three sisters, Ann Selensky, Fargo, Elizabeth Reba, and Agatha Krenzel, both Minot, ND.
