Hubert Asplin

On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, Hubert C. "Sonny" Asplin, age 90, of Dilworth, MN, died in Serenity Assisted Living, in Dilworth.
Hubert Charles Asplin, son of Charles and Florence (Gerhardt) Asplin, was born in Christie, WI, on January 27, 1922. He grew up and received his education in Wisconsin.
In 1943, Hubert married Vivian Kinslow. In 1943 he also entered the US Army Air Corps. He served overseas in the Pacific, as an aircraft mechanic. He was discharged in 1945.
Following his discharge, the family lived in Moorhead, MN, and on a "hobby farm" near Georgetown, MN. Hubert worked as a plumber for Robert Gibb and Sons. He also worked as a civilian contractor on government projects in Greenland and in Viet Nam. He retired, after 37 years, in 1984.
On July 27, 1974, Sonny married Alberta Frantz Johnson. They lived near Georgetown until 2001, when they moved to Dilworth. Alberta preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2003.
Hubert is survived by four sons, Roger (Rita) Asplin, Altamont, IL, Charles (Carol) Asplin, Fargo, David (Deb) Asplin, Moorhead and Paul Asplin, Moorhead; step-children Cheryl (Peter) Dwyer, Roger (Ellie) Johnson, Jean (Gary) Strom and Pat (Dale) Nel
Visitation: Monday, 5 PM until 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7,
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
