Ida Klundt, 91, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, September 12, 2011, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Ida Zeller was born January 24, 1920, in Hazen, ND, to Christian and Magdalena (Mehlhoff) Zeller. She was raised on a farm outside of Hazen and attended rural school. Ida graduated from beauty school in Bismarck, ND, and owned and operated a beauty shop in Beulah, ND.
On July 20, 1941, Ida married August Klundt in Beulah. They lived there for a short time until buying a grocery store in Dunn Center, ND, with August's brother, Bill. They eventually bought Bill's share of the store and continued to run the grocery store along with a hotel in town. In 1961, they moved to Moorhead, and Ida worked in accounting at the cafeteria at Concordia College.
Ida was a gifted and talented self-taught artist. She used various mediums including oil, water color and batik. Her paintings also won many awards at competitive shows. Ida was also proud to be the past President of the Trinity Lutheran Church Women in Moorhead, and she was a member of the American Bible Society.
Ida is survived by her husband, August, Moorhead; three sons, Bill (Joyce) Klundt, Sauk Centre, MN, Larry (Pat) Klundt, Bismarck, and Jay (Carolyn) Klundt, Sun City, NV; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Guenthner, Missoula, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gottlieb and Albert; and four sisters, Pauline, Clara, Hulda, and Lena.
