Idelle Johnson

March 23, 1921 — January 22, 2008

Idelle Johnson, 86, Halstad, MN, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family, after a brief struggle with leukemia.

Idelle Bernice (Norum) Johnson was born on March 23, 1921, in Halstad, the eighth child of Sivert and Beret Anna (Malmedahl) Norum. She was baptized and confirmed into the faith at Halstad Lutheran Church, where she remained a member for 86 years. She attended Halstad Public School.

On October 3, 1942, Idelle married Albert Victor Johnson. The couple had one child, Maxine Lee, born in April of 1946. Albert passed away in March of 1947, after serving his country in WWII.

Idelle worked as a secretary at the REA in Halstad and the Halstad Telephone Company. She was also a dental assistant for Dr. William Fitz and Dr. James F. Lundstrom in Halstad.

Idelle was a very active person, riding her bike and walking until she was well into her 80's. She also enjoyed baking for family and friends, who will all miss her divinity and krum kakke.
Idelle is survived by her daughter, Maxine (Mark) Henderson, Fargo; two grandchildren, Megan (Peter) Benavidez and Kristen Henderson, all of Fargo; and one great-grandchild, Gabriella Idelle Benavidez. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters, Borghild, Alvin, Sverre, Lilly, Myrtle, Genevieve, and Hazel.



Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
Funeral is on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 10 AM, in Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad
Burial at North Halstad Lutheran Cemetery.
