Imogene Kirkland Marino, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the age of 73, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit,surrounded by her family.
Flora Imogene Kirkland, the daughter of Servy & Delowese Kirkland, was born on September 18th , 1938 in Nicholls, GA She grew up farming with her family and graduated from Coffee County High School in Douglas, GA. She moved to Jacksonville, FL upon graduation and worked for Prudential Insurance until she married Frank L. Marino on August 19, 1961. She made her home in California, Florida and Georgia, where she was a homemaker and food service worker until her retirement in 1998 due to health reasons.
Imogene moved back to the family farmstead in 1998 in Douglas, GA, and resided there until her move to Fargo, ND in 2007 to be closer to her family. She has been a resident of The New Horizons Manor since 2007 and enjoyed living an independent life until her passing.
Imogene is survived by a daughter, Kelly (Keith) Anderson, Fargo; a son, Christopher Marino, Fargo; a granddaughter, Cori Marino, Eau Claire, WI; sister, Muriel (Samuel) Miller, Jacksonville, FL; 2 brothers, Dwight Kirkland, Douglas, GA, and Rodney Kirland, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, mother and sister, Claudette Finley.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, November 18th, 2011 at The New Horizon Manor, 2525 Broadway North, Fargo, ND at 6:00 pm to celebrate her life.
