Ina Dahlum

Ina was born November 28, 1920, to Peter and Hjerda (Loff) Mallinger, in Oslo, MN.

She met her husband, LeVerne “Vern” C. Dahlum, when he was on furlough in 1945. They married on March 31, 1945, and lived in Missouri for seven months. The Lord blessed them with 55 years of great togetherness. When the war ended, they lived in Sioux Falls, SD, Grand Forks, ND, and Moorhead, MN. But they lived the longest in Moorhead, so they called Moorhead their home. LeVerne passed away in July of 2000.

Ina has been a Lutheran since 1947 and a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd since 1969.

She was a stay-at-home wife and mom, which she loved to do. She felt that was her calling. Ina also loved to sew, read, and volunteered at different places in Grand Forks and Moorhead. As her children grew, she worked outside the home for JCPenney for nine years and was later self-employed for 20 years, making custom made drapes.

Ina died Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, at one hundred three years of age.

She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Johnson; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ina was preceded in death by daughters, Lavonne Avery and Tamara Krause; son, Marc; sons-in-law, Mark Johnson and Robert Avery; two sisters; four brothers; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Ina will be Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 5 - 6:30 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11 AM, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, with burial to follow at 3 PM, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
