Inger Skare, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Inger Tokheim was born June 8, 1920, in rural Loma, ND, to Jacob and Kristina (Eitrheim) Tokheim. She attended Loma School until the 8th grade. Inger moved to St. Paul, MN, where she worked at the Luther Seminary.
On April 2, 1955, Inger married George Skare in St. Paul. They made their home on a farm in Loma where Inger worked side by side with her husband running the farmstead. In 1963, they moved to Twin Valley, MN, and in 1978, they made their home in Moorhead. George died in 2006 and Inger continued to make her home in Moorhead
Inger had a large vegetable and flower garden on the farm and was a talented seamstress, making all of her own clothes. She was also active in the quilter's group at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Inger had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh as she enjoyed a good joke.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion Skare, Moorhead; a son, Galen Skare, Fergus Falls, MN; four nephews, A. Ronald (Bonnie) Loraas, Edward (Sharon) Loraas, Gordon Loraas, and Orlan (Evelyn) Loraas; and three nieces, Eunice Bjornstad, Rosalie (Bill) Hiers and Carolyn (James) Holmlund.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Myrtle Loraas; and three brothers, Elias, George, and an infant, George.
Visitation: Thursday from 5 - 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 5 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Friday, December 11, 2009 at 11 AM in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial: Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 1:30 PM in Loma Cemetery, Loma.
