Ingvald Hagen, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.
Ingvald was born July 23, 1922, in Tioga, ND, to Ansten and Oline Hagen. He was raised in the Tioga area where he attended country school. As a young man, Ingvald worked for area farmers and eventually traveled around the country working at various farms.
Ingvald entered into the Army in 1946 and served in Occupied Japan until his discharge in 1947. He then returned to Devils Lake, ND, where he continued to farm.
On October 7, 1951, Ingvald married Marianne Atherton in Moorhead. They made their first home in Devils Lake before moving to Moorhead. Ingvald continued to farm and then began working as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office until his retirement.
Ingvald was a man of many skills and had a strong work ethic, working long hours to provide for his family. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, camping and traveling in the RV with his wife, Marianne. He had a special place in his heart for dogs and always had a treat in his pocket for the many dog "friends" who visited him at Eventide.
Ingvald was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where he served as a council member, an usher and with the Helping Hands. He was also a member of the Elks, Moorhead VFW and Good Sam RV Club.
Ingvald is survived by his wife, Marianne, Moorhead; three daughters, Cheri Hagen, Moorhead, Nancy Staiger, Moorhead, and Janet Hagen, Narragansett, RI; a sister, Agnes Toso, Devils Lake; a brother-in-law, Don Atherton, Moorhead; a sister-in-law, Alice At
Visitation: Monday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 2 PM, Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens
