Irene A. Lovold, 97, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.
Irene Adeline Sandeen was born February 27, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Alma Sandeen, in Lake Park, MN. She was raised their and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1942. She then worked as a waitress in Hawley, MN.
She met her future husband, Aaron Lovold, at a dance in Lake Park and they were married June 24, 1943. They lived in Hawley, Thief River Falls, MN, and Detroit Lakes, MN, before settling in Moorhead. Over the years Irene spent many hours of volunteering her time. She volunteered at St. Ansgar Hospital for 31 years, at the Moorhead Thrift Store and Trinity Lutheran Church. Aaron passed away on January 17, 2008. Irene continued to make her home in Moorhead and moved to Eventide on Eighth in July of 2019.
Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, and watching the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Richard) Hews, Albany, OR, Debbie Tweten, and Jerry (Lisa) Lovold, both of Moorhead; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Berg and Fern Olson, both of Detroit Lakes; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Aaron.
A Graveside Service for Irene will be at 2:15 PM, Friday, September 17, 2021, in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
