Irene F. Herrig

Irene Frances Wohlers was born February 10, 1944, in Graceville, MN, to Maurus and Rose (Heck) Wohlers. She was raised in the family farm near Graceville, MN, where she attended school.

Irene went to nursing school in Alexandria, MN, and worked as an LPN at St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead, MN. She also worked in the pharmacy at Walgreens in Moorhead until she retired.

She married Richard "Dick" Herrig on May 2, 1964, in Barry, MN.

Irene enjoyed her home, travelling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene died Friday, January 7, 2022, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, at seventy-seven years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Anita (Steve) Weaver, Peggy (Doug) Young, and Patricia (Ron) Heid; five grandchildren, Shane Weaver, Stephany Weaver, Andrew Young, Alexyss (Brian) Rogers, and Sheridan Heid; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Brian, and Alice Rogers; siblings, Maurus (Carol), Elizabeth "Betty" (Robert) Siefert, Mary Ann (Paul) Kellen, Theresa Baroh, Cathy (Wayne) Huseby, Janet (Sid) Vogelbacher, and Pam (Jim) Stotesbery; sisters-in-law, Judy Wohlers and Susan Wohlers; and brother-in-law, Joe Nayquonabe.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette; brothers, John Thomas, Dan, Ben, and Jim; and a sister, Rita.

Visitation for Irene will begin at 10 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, Thursday, January 13, 2022, in St Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
