Irene Fischer, age 89, of Fargo, ND, passed away on April 24, 2012, in Villa Maria, Fargo.
Irene Diede was born March 27, 1923, in Artas, SD, to Henry and Martha Diede. She attended country school and worked on the family farm until marriage in April of 1948 to George Fischer, Jr. They farmed in Java, SD, from 1948 to 1950, when they moved to Fargo.
Irene was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, who also hosted Good News Clubs, a weekly Child Evangelism meeting in her home. When her children were of sufficient age she began working outside the home as a housekeeper and painter. She served many grateful families in the area with her dedication to hard work and responsibility. In 1982, she lovingly cared for her grandsons Bobby and Brian while their mother attended to job duties.
She joins husband George in heaven, who passed away June 12, 1993. Irene leaves behind three children, David, Moorhead, MN, Betty, Fargo, and Linda (David) Fonder, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jennifer Fischer, Jason Fonder, Bobby and Brian Fischer; great-granddaughter, Meadow Fonder; brothers, Arnold, Calvin, and Norman; and sisters, Ruth, Verna and Nora. Irene is predeceased by brothers, Royal, Lawrence, Clarence, and Aaron; and sister, Ella.
Visitation: Saturday, 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral service: Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 2:30 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
