Irene Schroeder

Irene Schroeder, 75, of Dilworth, MN, died Monday, May 12, 2014, in her home.

Mae Irene Bjorgan was born March 13, 1939, the daughter of Thorwald "Shorty" and Mae (Larson) Bjorgan, in Enderlin, ND. Shorty was a salesman most of his life so the family lived in Ayr, Erie, Valley City, Nome and Wimbleton, ND, where Irene graduated from high school. She then moved to Moorhead, MN, where she worked at Balmer Motors as an assistant bookkeeper.

Irene met Richard Schroeder while in Moorhead and they were united in marriage May 20, 1959, in Webster, SD. They established their home in Dilworth where they raised four children. Over the years, Irene worked at Louie's Bar in Dilworth and Mae Allen's Clothing Store in Moorhead, both of which she and Dick owned and operated. She also worked as a real estate agent and was instrumental in the success of her daughter's bar and café in Walcott, ND. She later helped her husband, Dick, operate Richard's Greenhouse for 17 years.

Irene enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and spending time at the lake.

She is survived by Dick; children, Curtis (Pat) Schroeder, Dilworth, Julie (Al) Dykema, Harwood, ND, Jodi (Wayne) Schroeder, Hitterdal, MN, and Craig (Jodi) Schroeder, Elbow Lake, MN; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Albert, Benjamin (Tami) Albert, Shelby (Ethan) Bartholomay, Taylah Schroeder, Aubrie Schroeder, Michael (Jodi) Lewis, Jake Dykema and Tyler Dykema; great-grandchildren, Mason, Mckenzy, Korah and Ava; sisters, Bev (Ed) Williams and Kay (Lyndon) Kratochwill, both of Elbow Lake, and Mavis (Tim) Bitz, Libby, MT; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and great-granddaughter, Autumn.

Visitation: Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN

Funeral Service: Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11:00 AM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
