Iva Helen Demmer was born March 18, 1918, in Dent, MN, to Fred and Matilda (Smith) Demmer. Iva was the fourth of ten children and was raised near Star Lake, MN. She attended country school in a schoolhouse just across the road and later graduated from North Central Bible College, in Minneapolis, MN in 1939.
Iva was united in marriage to Everill Broberg on December 10, 1943, in Pelican Rapids, MN. They raised five children on their dairy farm in Audubon, MN. Following Everill's death in 1989, Iva moved to Breckenridge, MN, and then to Fargo, ND, in 1998. She enjoyed wonderful care and friendship, during the last year and a half, from the staff at Rosewood on Broadway.
Iva was a wife, mother, homemaker, Sunday school teacher, and an active member of the Assembly of God Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she looked forward to going home to be with her Savior. In her own words, "Jesus led me all the way!" She achieved that reunion on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, while residing at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Iva is survived by five children: Allan (Mary), Fargo, Elizabeth (Dean) Aamodt, Brooklyn Park, MN, Harlan (Rebecca), Rochester, MN, Judy (Gordon) Newman, Marysville, WA, and Eugene (MaryAnn), Oklahoma City, OK; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Demmer, and Alvin (Marion) Demmer; and two sisters, Gladys Egli, and Florence (Art) Robins.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 11 AM, in First Assembly, Fargo.
