Ivan W. Ness, 83, Wolverton, MN, died Monday, October 5, 2009, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Ivan William Ness was born July 10, 1926, to Ingman and Wilhemina (Johnson) Ness in Fargo, ND. He was raised on the family farmstead near Wolverton and graduated from Wolverton High School in 1943.
After graduation, Ivan enlisted in the Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he returned to Wolverton where he farmed with his father.
On December 30, 1950, Ivan married Harriet Edwards. They made their home on the farmstead and Ivan continued to farm until his retirement in 1989.
Ivan was an active member of the Wolverton community serving as the Commander for the Wolverton Nelson-Otteson American Legion Post 37. He also served on many boards including the Farmers Elevator, Community Hall, Eventide, Breckenridge School, Faith Lutheran Cemetery and Faith Lutheran Church where he also taught Sunday school. Ivan also served as the Republican Party County Chairman.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet, Wolverton; a son, Timothy (Mona) Ness, Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, John Ness, Wolverton;a sister, Anne Olsgaard, Moorhead; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law

Funeral: Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM, in Faith Lutheran Church, Wolverton.
Burial: Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Wolverton.
