James Clayton Tinjum, of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully Friday, June 21, 2013, in Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND, at the age of 84.
James Clayton Tinjum was born December 21, 1928, at Ulen, MN, the son of Theodore and Signe (Bergseng) Tinjum. He was baptized in Ulen and confirmed at Atlanta Lutheran Church in Ulen. James was raised in Ulen and graduated from Ulen High School in 1946. Upon graduation, he worked on the family farm until he joined the United States Marines, serving during the Korean Conflict.
On September 18, 1954, James was united in marriage to Marilyn Rohde at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hawley, MN. They made their home in Moorhead. James worked as the shop foreman and manager at Dan Dugan Transport of Moorhead, and Sanborn, IA, for thirty five years. He then managed Power Fuels of West Fargo, ND, for five years before retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, the American Legion, and the Parkinson's Support Group.
James enjoyed their lake home on Wymer Lake near Frazee, MN, for many years. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons and grandsons, and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; children, Pam (Keith) Anderson, Moorhead, Mike (Jean) Tinjum, Dalton, MN, Shari (Steve) Roquet, Fargo, ND, and Steve (Beatrice) Tinjum, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Jesse (Jennifer) Anderson, Jared (Nicole)
James was preceded in death by his parents; and twin daughters, Debra Ann and Diana Lynn.
Visitation: Monday, 5 PM to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM in Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 2:30 PM, in Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN
