James Dennis Erickson was born August 21, 1953, in Crookston, MN, to Leonard and June (Hanson) Erickson. Jim was raised in Crookston where he graduated from high school.
Jim earned a business degree from Moorhead (MN) State University in 1976. He decided to pursue a law degree and graduated from Hamline Law School in St. Paul, MN. Jim worked alongside his father in his law firm, in Crookston, before moving to Winona, MN, to work in a law firm.
Jim moved to Fargo, ND, where he worked until he began his own law practice, Erickson Law Office, in Moorhead. He married Christine Naslund on June 18, 1988, in Crookston. Jim's three daughters, Shandra, Ellyn and Emma were the loves of his life. He was very proud of his children.
In his younger years, Jim was an avid skier on water and snow. As an adult, he continued his love for downhill skiing in the mountains of Montana and Colorado. He shared his love of skiing with his daughters with trips to Montana for family ski vacations. He loved to golf, read, socialize and above all else, spend time with his daughters.
After Jim encountered serious health problems, he had to retire and close his law practice. Jim died very unexpectedly Friday, June 11, 2010, at his home of natural causes, at fifty-six years of age.
Jim is survived by his three daughters, Shandra (Gary) Rosenfeldt, Dilworth, MN, and Ellyn and Emma Erickson, and their mother, Christine, Moorhead; sisters, Nancy (Mark) Moore, Madison, WI, and Janna (Marc) Peterson, Moorhead; a brother, Gary (Melanie) Erickson, Little Falls, MN; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Ruby.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
A Gathering of Friends will be Wednesday, June 16, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, with a time of remembrance at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The memorial service will be Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 2 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
