James Michael Henry, 67, of Dilworth, MN, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
James was born in Moorhead, MN, on March 11, 1949. He was the son of Lamont and Esther (Humphries) Henry Jr. Jim grew up and received his education in Moorhead, where he graduated from Moorhead High School in 1967, and attended Moorhead Tech. Jim served his country in the US Marine Corps, enlisting in 1969. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in January of 1975.
Jim returned to Moorhead where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Henry Brothers Excavation. He lived in Moorhead until 2009, when he moved to Dilworth.
Jim enjoyed gardening, cooking, hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Moorhead VFW and the Moorhead American Legion. He loved time spent with family and truly enjoyed all of his nieces and nephews.
Jim cared deeply for his fellow veterans. He led an effort to raise the money needed to provide a "rec center" at the Fargo VA hospital, and made a significant personal gift.
James was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by four brothers, Gerry (Bonnie) Henry, Pelican Rapids, MN, David (Diane) Henry, Pelican Rapids, Steve (Char) Henry, Perham, MN, and Larry (Gayle) Henry, Hawley, MN; a sister, Beth (Mike) Mock, Boise, ID; 13 nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
The memorial service for James M. Henry will be Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 2:30 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
