James P. Livdahl

James Peter Livdahl was born to William and Ruth (Backlund) Livdahl on June 10, 1928, on the family farm by Rustad, MN. He went to Rustad school and graduated from Comstock (MN) High School.

James served in the US Army in Germany. He was a lifelong farmer and partnered with his brother to run the family farm. He also worked for Skarphol Manufacturing, Cenex Land-O-Lakes and Heartland Seeds, as well as various agricultural jobs.

James married Myrtle Currier on October 26, 1950, in Detroit Lakes, MN. They lived on the family farm near Rustad where they raised their six children. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1988. Myrtle passed away August 18, 2013.

James passed away Tuesday morning, July 22, 2014, with his daughters by his side, at Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth, MN, at eighty-six years of age.

James is survived by his children, Greg (Barb) Livdahl, Bainbridge Island, WA, Carol (Craig) Zempel, Willmar, MN, Lee (Julie) Livdahl, Pelican Rapids, MN, Gail (Nate) Schroder, Saint Cloud, MN, Peter (Deb) Livdahl, Moorhead, and Thomas (Laurie) Livdahl, Moorhead; siblings, Evonne (Erling) Anderson, Eva Skarphol, Fargo, Roger (Barbara) Livdahl, Spring Lake Park, MN, and Gerald (Rosie) Livdahl, Lake Park, MN; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Myrtle, he was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Livdahl; and siblings, Amy Amundson and William "Buddy" Livdahl.

Visitation for James will be Monday, July 28, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 11 AM, in Hoff Lutheran Church, Rustad.

Burial will take place in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
